Serious Crash Shuts Down Rt.1 South In Linden

Rt. 1 South in Linden was closed Tuesday morning for a crash investigation.

The crash occurred around 4:15 a.m., when a 2008 Infiniti struck a 2004 Ford Explorer as it was turning left from Rt. 1 North onto S. Wood Ave., police said.

The drivers, a 25-year-old Elizabeth man and a 29-year-old Woodbridge woman, were taken to University Hospital in Newark with serious injuries.

Rt. 1 South was expected to be re-opened around 7 a.m., police said.
